If you're in search of a baby girl name that begins with the letter O-- and you're sick of the trendy Olivia-- here are some international choices to consider.

Looking for a baby girl name that begins with O? The choices are limited-- at least if you stick with names that are common in the United States. With the exception of the wildly popular Olivia, O just isn't used very often as the first letter of a name. However, if you look to other cultures and languages, O is the first letter of some beautiful baby name gems.

Here are some baby girl names that begin with the letter O.

Olivia. The one popular "O" name for girls is at the height of trendiness in America. Previously a relatively obscure name, Olivia has reached the top 10-- along with other old-fashioned names such as Isabella, Ava, Emma, and Abigail. According to the U.S. Social Security Baby Name Index, Olivia peaked at #4 in 2004 and remained at #7 in 2006. The meaning of Olivia is simple-- it comes from a Greek word meaning "olive."

Olive. Looking for a unique alternative to Olivia? Despite Olivia's ubiquity, Olive isn't even on the Top 1000 name list in the United States, at least not yet. Neither is Ollie, another possible alternative.

Octavia. If you're having eight children, this name is a natural choice (it means "eighth"), but even if you're not, consider Octavia as a unique alternative to Olivia. If you're a science fiction fan, you'll know that this name's most famous owner was the late writer Octavia Butler.

Ofra. This Hebrew name is fairly popular in Israel. It means "fawn."

Oksana. Most Americans became familiar with this popular Russian name in 1994, when 16-year-old Oksana Baiul won the Olympic gold medal for figure skating. Oksana comes from a Hebrew expression that means "praise God."

Ophelia. Like Olivia, Ophelia is a Shakespearean name (although Hamlet's Ophelia met a far worse fate than Twelfth Night's Olivia). Ophelia comes from a Greek name that means "assistance."

Orianna. As Ariana moves up the popularity charts, consider this similar but unique alternative. Orianna is derived from a Latin phriase that means "sunrise."

Orenda. This Iroquois name is unique, but doesn't sound strange among English speakers. Orenda means "magical power."

Olwyn. Welsh names are always popular, and here's one that's very unusual on this side of the Atlantic. Olwyn means "footprint of the holy one." This name can also be spelled Olwen.

Odalis. Looking for a unique Spanish name? Odalys means "wealthy," and is sometimes used as a boy's name as well. The name is sometimes spelled Odalys, and German variants include Odelia and Odetta.

Olympia. This classic Greek place name (as in "Mount Olympus") is perhaps best known as the name of actress Olympia Dukakis.

Orpah. From the Book of Ruth, this Biblical name means "back of the neck," which refers to the fact that Orpah turned her back on her mother-in-law Naomi, unlike Ruth. Talk show host's Oprah Winfrey's name is actually a misspelling of this name.

Ozlem. This unique Turkish name means "yearning."
