Are twin baby boys about to come into your life? Here are some naming suggestions.

Twin boys-- wow, what a joy and what a handful! Are you looking for a pair of names to suit your little men? Sometimes parents just choose two names they like without too much thought about how they go together. They want their kids to be individuals, not one of a unit, and unique names promote individuality. On the other hand, some parents of twins like to find names for their sons that match. Perhaps the names have same first letter, or sound similarly, or have a theme or meaning in common. Other parents aren't particularly looking for a "set" of names, but look for names that have a nice ring together.

If you are looking for names for twin boys, here are a few ideas to get you started.

Same Letter Names. Giving twins with the same first letter is cute, and if you find two names that are different enough, you can still have that individuality factor. Be careful not to give your boys two names that are very similar, or else people will get them confused. No Jack and Jackson, or Christopher and Christian, or Alec and Alex. Also, you might consider choosing names with the same level of popularity or trendiness. If you name your kids Aiden and Aspen, Aiden will wish he had a unique name like his brother, and Aspen will wish his name fit in better like Aiden. Here are a few same letter name examples, both popular and unusual.

Popular/Trendy Names

  • Aiden, Andrew
  • Baker, Brandon
  • Caden, Connor
  • Daniel, Dylan
  • Ethan, Elijah
  • Gabriel, Gavin
  • Hayden, Hunter
  • Issac, Ian
  • Jackson, Jacob
  • Kyle, Kevin
  • Luke, Logan
  • Matthew, Michael
  • Nicholas, Noah
  • Owen, Oliver
  • Parker, Patrick
  • Richard, Robert
  • Samuel, Seth
  • Tyler, Tucker

Unusual Names

  • Asher, Ari

  • Wade, Wynn
  • Zane, Zeb

Pleasant Combinations. Perhaps same letter first names just sounds too cheesy for you, but you'd still like to find a pair of names that sound nicely when said together. Here are some examples of name pairs that either have similar sounds or just have a nice ring as a set.

  • Jacob, Caleb
  • Tyler, Ryan
  • Michael, Nicholas
  • Andrew, Daniel
  • Ethan, Jonathan
  • Noah, Logan
  • David, James
  • Asher, Issac
  • Brandon, Austin

  • Devin, Sebastian
  • Bryce, Marcus
  • Carter, Tanner
  • Derek, Jared
  • Max, Sam

Rhyming Names. Yes, this is a little out of style. The Baby Boomers celebrated their twins by naming them Larry and Gary (and Barry, and Harry, and Jerry). However, if you can come up with a nice combination, maybe you can bring back the 1950s rhyming trend and make it sound retro. Here are some rhyming suggestions.

  • Aiden, Caden, Braden, Jayden, Hayden
  • Shane, Blaine, Dane, Thane, Wayne, Zane
  • Taylor, Kaylor, Baylor
  • Cade, Wade
  • Evan, Devin, Kevin, Nevin
  • Tyler, Skyler
  • Cody, Brody
  • Cole, Noel
  • Kyle, Lyle
  • Blake, Drake, Jake
  • Eric, Derek
  • Miles, Niles
  • Luke, Duke
  • Trent, Brent
