Many women want to find creative ways to share the news of a new pregnancy with family and friends.

When a couple has been trying to have a baby, one of the happiest moments is when the pregnancy test turns positive. All the hopes and dreams for the future start to come true in that one moment. Sharing this wonderful news with family and friends is another important moment that can help to spread the joy and excitement that come with having a baby.

Creative Ways to Tell Your Husband that You are Pregnant

Telling a man that he will soon become a daddy can be a thrilling experience. While shouting “I’m pregnant!” will most certainly do the trick, there are some more creative ways to share the news with the daddy-to-be.

Creative Foods Say I’m Pregnant – Fix a baby diner, with baby carrots and other miniature foods. Leave a hamburger bun in the oven and ask the dad-to-be to get the rest of dinner out of the oven. Be ready to answer his questions when he turns around and asks why there’s only a bun in the oven!

Gifts that Say I’m Pregnant - Purchase a baby name’s book to give the daddy-to-be, and tell him that there is an important decision to make. There are also many pregnancy books for the dad to read that can be great gifts to share the news. Give him a father’s day card or any number of baby items including diapers or even a doll to help prepare him.

Creative Ways to Tell Family that You are Pregnant

Family is usually the first to find out about a new baby. Share the exciting news with family in creative ways.

Photo Opportunity Shares News of a New Baby - To catch the family’s reaction to the news, ask for a family photo. Instead of saying “say cheese!” as the camera snaps the picture, call out “we’re pregnant!” and catch the surprised looks. When visiting family, bring a stack of photos to pass around and share. Slip an ultrasound picture somewhere in the stack and sit back and wait to see who finds it first. Take a family picture and include a note that says: New camera, $100, photo paper, $5.00. Seeing your face when you realize there are actually 3 of us in this photo, priceless.

Creative Pregnancy Announcements – Pick out an appropriate picture frame and place a paper place-holder that says, “Picture due on or around [due date]”. Send out save-the-date cards for a birthday party for the new arrival. If there is another sibling in the family already, buy a shirt that says “I’m the big brother” or “I’m the big sister”. Buy a shirt for the new mom-to-be that has her due date printed on it.

Creative Ways to Tell Friends I’m Pregnant

Sharing the exciting news of a new baby with friends can be both thrilling and nerve wracking. There are both subtle ways to share the news and more overt ways to say I’m pregnant.

Subtle Ways to Share News of a New Pregnancy – When around friends who have children, make vague comments about children and the due date of the new baby. Comments about play dates, the need for tips on raising kids and even veiled comments about being glad that the bouts of morning sickness are not in fact the flu can help friends pick up on the news of a new baby.

Overt Ways to Tell Friends of a New Baby – Ask friends to save the due date on their calendar. Ask to borrow maternity clothes or for a close friend to go shopping for baby items together. Friends who live at a distance might need to be told the happy news with a quick phone call.

Finding out that there is a baby on the way can be both exciting and terrifying. It is important to have family and friends surround the new mom and dad-to-be and provide support and share in the excitement.

Now that you are pregnant, it is time to start researching options for the birth of the new baby.
