Being pregnant for Halloween gives women a unique opportunity to integrate the pregnant belly into their costume plans. In areas with a warmer climate, bare-bellied maternity costumes are available and in other areas, costumes must be made or tailored to accommodate the belly.

In the past, women didn't have many options for Halloween costumes, and often had to rig something up on their own, or make a standard costume work. Nun costumes and choir singers or graduate costumes were popular, as were brides. In warmer climates, painted bellies are a fun way to dress up a pregnant belly for Halloween. No matter which costume is chosen, it's wise to take photos, not all pregnant women are pregnant over Halloween and of those who are, not all are lucky enough to have a belly big enough to warrant its own costume.
