As you plan for your upcoming pregnancy, here are some things to consider.

Since pregnancy calendars start at the gestational age, Week One of your pregnancy actually begins at the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). This is an important date to remember since your providers will be checking the baby's growth and the development of your pregnancy based on this date.

What is happening with your Baby?

Since the ovum and sperm have not met, conception has not happened and your baby is not forming until the end of next week. The egg is still waiting in your ovary to be released.

What is happening with You?

Even though you have not conceived, you are likely planning to become pregnant. You are starting what will be your last period for 9 months. You may even have a longer break before you menstruate again after birth if you plan to breastfeed. Your uterus is now shedding its lining to begin preparations for ovulation.

To do list:

If you haven't already started taking prenatal vitamins, be sure to start taking them now.

Look ahead to Pregnancy Week Two.
