Over the last few decades, popular baby boy name trends have changed. In days past, a small number of popular names dotted the popularity charts. Now, although old standards like Matthew, Michael, and Christopher are still very popular, there just seems to be more baby boy names to choose from, including classic Biblical names like Jacob and Caleb.
Unfortunately, not all baby names are as uncommon as people think. Names that were unusual a few years ago have become very trendy. While many popular boy names are classic and will stand the test of time, trendy names in the 1990s and 2000s are becoming dated quickly.
Baby boy name trends generally fall into four categories.
1) The "ADEN" trend. Any boy's name ending with the sound "aden" is at the height of trendiness. Visit any playground in America and you'll see. The ultra-popular name "Aiden" itself might have some staying power, but the batches of other Aiden-like variants sound made up and a doomed to become dated. Some parents try to get creative and invent new variants like "Rayden," and while these names are uncommon, they're still trendy. Creating different spellings doesn't make these names less trendy either. Cayden and Kaden are just as trendy as Caden. Here's the most popular ADEN names:
