» englishteacher07 - negative pregnancy test

Hi. My period is now six days past due. I have taken a few pregnancy tests- the latest one as of today- and all are negative. In 19 years, I have never been more than one day late for a period. I have one daughter and a HPT confirmed the pregnancy one day after the missed period.

I am very confused. My husband and I have just begun trying for our second and by all accounts- I would have assumed this meant pregnancy.

Is it still possible that I am pregnant or have I just inexplicably missed a period?

Thanks for any input.

Most moms have a false negative on a hpt withing the first week after conception - which is week 2 of pregnancy. By week three, it is less likely to have a false negative.

You could do one of two things; retake the test again in another week or get a blood test at your provider's office to absolutely confirm whether or not you are pregnant.

Also - I'm not sure when you took the test, but with a HPT it is best to take it first thing in the morning when you urine is very concentrated. It helps the test pick up any of the pregnancy hormones at an earlier time.

With my second the pregnancy test never registered more than an exceptionally faint line. Remember - a faint line is still a line!

Good luck! Keep us posted on your test results.
