In response to large babies posted by brendapreg:

hi Brenda,I am now the very proud but exhausted mom to baby Solomon,he was due on the 21st April and i had at last been given the 26th April to deliver by elective section,at an appointment on the 25th to discuss what happens during a cs I mentioned to the midwife that all I ever wanted was a waterbirth, but didn't want to take the risk that on the day it was already in use.she said that if it was free and she okayed it with my consultant how would I like my waters broken today and see what happens? We agreed to it and at 1.30 pm my waters were broken,at 3.30pm i got into the pool at 4cms dilated and at just gone 4pm my long awaited son was born.It was a magical experience, all the pelvic pain and pressure in that area vanished and I could get on with pushing my son out into the world with no pain relief whatsoever. He weighed in at 9lbs 5 1/2 oz,a good size but no where near to what i'd been scared into beleiving he'd be.I did tear (my biggest fear)but it was only a small one which they think happened as his hand was up at his face as he was born,so I again refused stitches, and so far so good 4 days on i'm not as sore or swollen as with my other babies,i was up and about the day after, and the breastfeeding is going very well,he is a beautiful boy.Looking back I am so glad that midwife listened to us at that appointment and was prepared to go that extra bit and get us the birth we had only dreamed of.
