My doula was wonderful! I had my second child at a freestanding birth center. My doula was extremely supportive during natural childbirth and coached my hubby when he needed help. She also was our lactation consultant! She didn't leave until breastfeeding was established and then she came over to bring us a meal the next day.

I highly recommend having a doula but urge you to interview several so you'll find the right fit.
