I am 22 weeks and I have gained 15 lbs. I was 5'5 117 when I started. My doctor said I need to slow down on my weight gain. I thought this was pretty normal. Does anyone have any advice?

My reference material suggests that total weight gain in the first trimester is roughly about 5 pounds. By the second through third trimester, the average weekly weight gain (for a woman of normal weight) is just under a pound (or .4kg) per week. If you or your doctor are concerned about your pattern of weight gain, perhaps you can consult with a nutritionist.

Remember that your weight gain is ultimately not as crucial as whether or not you are eating a healthy diet. You might be interested in the following series of articles:
