My wife went to the doctor yesterday and took a pregnancy test and it cam back positive and she came home and took another one and it cam e back negative.

Is the Dr.'s more reliable than the home-kit?
Could she have gotten a false-positive from the Dr.?

Not if the doctor's test was a blood test. That is the most accurate way to check for even tiny levels of hCG.
