» chrissyb473 - having a big baby

My ob is worried my baby is going to be large, my last one was 9#12oz. She said if this one looks to be around 10 pounds she will schedule a c section. I gave birth to my other two naturally and don't want a c section. There was no problems delivering my largest although she came out bruised. I also am with a different ob because my other one retired. To me it seems unneccesary and do I have a say so?

Absolutely you have a right to say you do not want a cesarean. Not to mention, there is a term (which I have mixed feelings about) that the Ob's use often that says that after you have given birth already (esp in your case with big babies) that you have a "proven pelvis."

You can seek out another provider if you do not feel that a cesarean is medically necessary. Have your read these articles?

If I was in your situation I would be saying to my ob that unless there will be a problem you will be having it naturally. Don't let your ob scare you into having an unnecessary c section. They don't know your body like you do and they shouldn't assume that because you are having a big baby you should op for a c section. You will be fine and have confidence in yourself and prove them wrong.
